GeoDash 1.6 Now Generally Available
February 22nd, 2011
The BigDataLabs team is excited to bring you the latest edition of our innovative location intelligence tools. Several new features and numerous performance improvements makes this one of our biggest releases to date. Again, we are sticking to our philosophy of release often, release early! We continue to push the boundaries of what you can do with location intelligence and MicroStrategy.
Whats new?
Clustering
With clustering its now easy to visualize density of spatial data over large datasets. You can easily visualize datasets with tens of thousands of records or points of interests.

The clustering feature deploys a highly optimized algorithm from Google to group collocated points in clusters. As you zoom in or click on a cluster it expands to sub clusters or individual markers. To enable clustering all you have to do check mark a new option in the configuration window.
Dynamic Routing
Ever wonder what the drive time is like from various location around your retail center? Now you can easily generate routes between any two markers or custom locations. Its as simple as running a GeoDash report and clicking on the markers present in the map. The route generate will suggest alternatives, present drive time and distance, and will allow you to drag the route over custom paths. All of this is neatly packed into the familiar Google Maps interface.

Distance and Area Measurements
New toolbar in GeoDash 1.6 allows users to easily draw lines and shapes to calculate distances and areas. Now its really easy to find the linear distance between entities and drill into the spatial nature of your data.

Performance Improvements
Numerous performance improvements has gone into this new version of GeoDash. Everything from search to marker rendering has been improved. With this version of GeoDash you can plot up to 2500 markers in modern browser without clustering. In prior version the max out would occur around 500. Want to learn more about GeoDash? Read this…
